Kier's First Scooting Experience

Every morning on our walk to school we see children as young as 2 whizzing along on Scooters and Balance Bike. They seem to be in perfect control and their parents walk proudly behind them without a look of worry or concern for their child. These are what i call the "chilled out  mummies!" They are so different from me, they don't worry that there is a possibility their child will fall off and get hurt. To be fair to them, their children never do seem to fall off or get hurt! Probably cos they are growing up with chilled out parents who let them get on with it and gain amazing balance and great confidence. I do really wish i was the kind of mum who could chill out a bit when it comes to bike/scooter riding.

Amelie didn't learn to ride a bike until she was almost 8! She's very confident at riding now and i don't worry about her so much. Lottie is 7 and still learning to ride a bike. Kier is 3 and has a balance bike but i haven't been brave enough to let him ride it yet!

A few weeks ago we were asked to review a Scooter suitable for a 3 year old. I saw this as a great opportunity to give in to my fears and let Kier have a go at riding a scooter, then maybe i could think about letting him use his balance bike!

The scooter arrived, a lovely chunky Yvolution v Glider Deluxe Scooter! It looked so sturdy and safe, i couldn't wait to see Kier try it out. At first he was a little unsure of what to do. I had a go of it myself to show him what to do, it went along really well on our wooden floor. Then Kier had another go, he knew how to work the scooter and how to press the back wheel to brake, He was a natural!!  I ordered him a helmet so we could try the scooter outside.

Today the helmet arrived, so we went out on bikes and scooters, this was Kier's very first outdoor scooting experience and he loved it! Lottie was keen to have a go of the Scooter too, it works really well for both of
their ages.

Why I love the Yvolutuion Glider Deluxe Scooter

This scooter is perfect for your child's first scooter, and with Summer on the way it's the perfect time to get your little ones outside and introduce them to Scooting. If you're a little nervous about it like myself, maybe try taking your child to the Park to play on their scooter, our local park has soft flooring which is perfect for learning to scoot on! The Yvolution Glider is suitable for ages 3 to 6 years, Lottie is 7 and got on fine with it so it's probably fine for taller children too. I really like this brand, Kier's balance bike is also from this brand and when he's ready for it i'm sure it will be perfect for him!

The scooter has a "lean to steer" mechanism to help little ones learn to steer properly. The foot brake is over the back wheel and works really well. I love the look of the scooter, both Kier and Lottie look really at ease when riding it. It's very light which is great for me when i need to carry it one handed!
Available from Mothercare priced around 39.99

Lottie and Kier both wore their helmets when riding the scooter outdoors, Lottie is only posing for the pictures where she isn't wearing her helmet. Please remember children of all ages need to wear a helmet when riding bikes and scooters. Stay safe this summer and have fun outdoors!
