Last week our first born child turned 9! We are still in total disbelief that our precious little baby Girl is growing into a much more grown up little lady. She isn't a baby anymore but not a teenager either. I find this age quite difficult, especially for girls. Amelie wants to be a grown up, she wants to do things like making Coffee and acting grown up but she also still loves to play games, or with her dolls, although she never plays with dolls with her friends when they come over!
Amelie recently asked me if we could put some of the "babyish" things in her Bedroom away. I was quite sad to hear that she didn't want her disney Princess toys anymore, or her Design a Friend dolls, she didn't even want her Sylvannian Family house!
So we decided to have a quick change around, I don't want her room to look too "grown up" so we have kept a lot of soft toys on her bed. Her beautiful Princess castle lamp has now been replaced with this beautiful flower lamp from Next.
The next thing to replace is her Bookshelf - a beautiful Princess Castle style bookcase which matched her Lamp, luckily this isn't going for good! We will put the Bookcase and lamp in Lotties bedroom :-)
I found it really difficult to find a nice "grown up" girls bookcase for her room, she doesn't need anything too big and bulky as she doesn't have as many books now she has given all her "babyish" books to her sister!
Something like this is what I had in mind.
Amelies cute Curtains with bunny Rabbits are now a thing of the past, she now has pink and white floral curtains. Still very pretty and not too "grown up" they arn't lined curtains so we decided to replace the beige coloured Venetian blinds with lovely soft Pink VELUX blinds, these are great for keeping out the light in the Summer months, especially for older children who are looking for any reason to stay up later!
Amelie recently asked for some Wall stickers in her bedroom. She noticed that one of the Dance Studios she goes to had some lovely Dancer wall decal and she quite likes the idea of having some in her bedroom. The only problem is there is so much to choose from, i love all of these wall stickers!!
Lastly, and still to be done is finding a new Rug, a rug that is of course not too babyish but not too grown up either!! I'm thinking something like this would be lovely.
So there we have it, a little girls bedroom converted into a "grown up" girls own little living space. It's still pretty and it's still cute. We have moved most of the toys into the playroom so they arn't too far away if she decides to have them back in her room!
