Aside from your bedroom, the bathroom is the one sure place in your home where you can escape and let all your stress melt away. However, if you’re not happy with the design and layout of your sanctuary, it can be hard to get comfortable. If you think it’s time to have a remodel, then obviously you’ll want to get it right the first time. Here are my steps and tips for designing your dream bathroom.
The first step in your bathroom re-design should be finding a theme you like. This doesn’t have to be anything specific like ‘seaside’ or ‘jungle’, unless of course you want it to be! Simply picking out a nice colour scheme should be enough. Choose something that will help you to relax, while fitting in with your specific tastes. Subtle, neutral shades will create a classy, understated feel. More vibrant colours will give your bathroom a more extravagant, luxurious mien. For some people, settling on a unique theme is tough. If you’re really stuck, then go with whites and light blues. I don’t think there’s a single bathroom in the world which wouldn’t suit these kinds of shades!
Next up, accessories. This is where you can really have some fun. Find a fun shower curtain to hang up, a nice towel rack, and some new lighting. Some new storage will also help to give your bathroom a new, refreshed feel. Take this circular unit from Componibili as an example. Whatever it is you felt your old bathroom was missing, bring it into your new one. Don’t forget to go past the necessities as well. I think every bathroom should have a piece of artwork in it. Other things like vases of flowers and decorative storage can make lovely finishing touches. When it comes to decorating the bathroom, less is more. Sure, it’s your home. However, be careful of overloading your bathroom, or buying more than you can fit in!
Finally, stock up on some fitting supplies. I’m sure you’ve already got a perfectly good stock of towels and the like. However, after the remodelling’s all done, you might feel like some of it clashes with the design. The simple solution to this is to buy different ones! For a real touch of luxury, look into getting some hotel quality, personalised bathrobes. At the least, get some lovely fluffy towels which go well with the colour scheme. To help you break your new bathroom in, I’d get some bath bombs, salts, and candles as well. By now, your budget might be a little stretched. However, you can save money by getting sample-sized packs, rather than buying in bulk. This not only lets you try out a number of different brands, but adds the luxurious sense of being in a hotel to your bathroom experience. Whatever it is that makes your bath time complete, don’t forget to treat yourself!
Take these steps when you’re designing your new bathroom. I assure you, you won’t be disappointed! After this, just slip out of your clothes, close the door, and relax!
