Making a House a Home

It is s hard to believe that it has almost been 6 months since we moved into our new home. This was our first Family move, from our very first house that we lived in for 8 years, to our new, much bigger Family home.  When we bought our new home it all seemed very surreal, I slowly started packing boxes but in the back of my mind i was thinking "these things take such a long time to go through, we won't be going anywhere yet" little did i know we would be in our new home just 6 weeks later.

We chose the area of our children's new school, because it is a nice area and we have always dreamt about walking our children to school and when they are bigger, allowing them to ride their bikes to school. Our lives have changed for the better since moving house, I feel that we are all healthier and getting more exercise, we have a playroom which is something i have always wanted, it makes my job so much easier (Child Minding) and i feel that we have a lot more storage space than we used to!

The house is beautiful, each room looks lovely (when not covered with childrens toys) but it didn't all happen over night. Matt and I spent a few nights at the house without the children before we officially moved in, we would stay up til 1am painting and decorating, trying to get the kids room perfect before their furniture was moved in.
You really do have to be very patient when it comes to home decorating, it was all worth it in the end. I love looking back on these before and after pictures, it shows just how much you can transform a  newly bought house and make it your own

Apart from the possibility of a Garage conversion in the future, there isn't really much else i want to change about the house. The only thing that slightly bothers me is how cold the house can get, especially in these cold winter months.

I found myself watching this video and since then i have been looking into how much it would cost to have App controlled heating installed. I like the idea of controlling the heating from my mobile phone!

  1. Great post Laura. Love the before and after photos. Can me and the twins come round and mess up your playroom? x
