The Best Kids TV Shows for their Summer Break

As a mother of three, I have to think of lots of ways to keep my kids occupied during the summer. I plan days out, purchase tickets for theme parks, and more. However, all children like to spend time in front of the television. While I try to get mine out of the house, there are some shows that always keep them quiet. Today, I’m going to list some of the kids TV programs that are always on the television in our house. In all honesty, they drive my partner crazy. Even so, they tend to give me some peace and quiet.

Pokemon first hit our screens in the late 1990s. Since then, it has gone on to become one of the most popular TV shows in the world. It originated in the Far East and traveled around the globe. The characters in the show are memorable, and that is why I have to spend so much on toys and cards. My son now has a huge collection of Pokemon tins that I am forced to purchase every time we hit the shops. The music isn’t too bad in this one either. That should be a bonus for anyone who has to endure the theme tune from “Barney the dinosaur” every day.

Sesame Street

It might be old now, but Sesame Street is still a bit hit with the little ones. My youngest could watch it all day long. Her favorite characters are Bert and Ernie. That said, she has a soft spot for Elmo too. That is why she’s got so many stuffed toys in her bedroom. I often put the show on just before bedtime. That helps to get her into a routine. She now knows it is time to get washed and bathed when she hears the theme tune. We used to have arguments at bedtime. Thankfully, Sesame Street has helped to stop all that.

Dexter’s Laboratory

Created by the same people who made Family Guy, Dexter’s Lab is a fantastic show. The best thing about it is there are lots of jokes that kids can’t understand. So, it’s made a little more for the adults. I’ve found myself in fits of laughter many times. There are a couple of other shows made by the same people that you might want to check out. Cow and Chicken are always a favorite, and so is Johnny Bravo. You should see my son strutting around the living room after watching an episode of that. It is hilarious.

So, there you have it. Those kids TV shows make their way onto our TV more often than any other. The kids do like to watch different programs, but they always come back to the same three. The love them so much that I’m expected to create some custom artwork and hang it on their walls this summer. My son wants a laboratory sign for his bedroom. If nothing else, the show has helped him to become more interested in science. I’ve already purchased his first chemistry set for Christmas. Keep it to yourself, I don’t want to spoil the surprise.
