Cruising with Royal Carribean

We recently went on a 6 day Cruise on Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas. This is the first cruise I have ever been on, so I don't really know much about any other cruise lines but I can't help but think Royal Caribbean has to be one of the best out there!!

When we arrived at Southampton, we were amazed to see our beautiful and incredibly HUGE ship there waiting for us!! It didn't take very long at all to check in, we stepped onto the ship and went inside and looked down onto the Ships Royal Promenade (something i believe only Royal Carribean Ships have!) we were so excited and couldn't wait to start exploring. The inside of the Ship was not "ship like" at all, it would be very easy to forget you are even on a ship!

Our Ocean View Stateroom was amazing! I found myself at this little window every evening before i went to sleep watching the waves crashing about!! And then again first thing in the morning!

Independence of the Seas has 15 decks, 3 of which are staterooms only. The rest of the decks are full of fun, entertainment, dining. Everything you need for the perfect holiday and more!!!
The ship has 3 fine dining restaurants, 1 buffet style restaurant and 1 american style restaurant. If that isn't enough there is also a Cafe and Pizza bar on the Royal Promenade that serves Pizza all day and right through the evening til 3am!

Loving Life on the Independence! :-)

There is a childrens water park, which is fun but in my opinion SHOULD be supervised by lifeguards as there was a very bad accident in this pool involving a 6 year old child that had to be taken to hospital by Helicopter on the 2nd day of our cruise... horrifying!

View from one of the Restaurants

                                                           Classic King of the World!!

There is also adult pools and 2 large whirlpools looking out onto the sea.. amazing!! There is also a few hot tubs around the pools, a large out door cinema screen showing movies throughout the day and night.
There is a Gym looking out onto the sea which is an amazing experience when you're on a running machine looking out!  There is also a Spa and fitness centre, and a running track on the outside top deck.

There are 2 theatre's which show AMAZING entertainment each night, an ice skating rink, a Flo Rider, a Rock Climbing Wall, Tennis court, Crazy golf and ofcourse many many Bars!

There was never a dull moment on the Ship, even when we were at Sea for 1 whole day and night, we still found so much to do. We did get off the Ship at La Harve, Bilbao and Gijon but we couldn't wait to get back on and get dressed for Dinner and the evening entertainment!

This cruise was the holiday of a life time, we loved it so much we booked it again after only being back home for 6 days!! We will be cruising again on the same Ship in October. Sadly the Ship will be leaving the UK in November :-( so I am glad we will get to sail on it again! and we do hope to sail on Royal Carribeans newest Ship Quantum of the Seas which is arriving in the UK in November!

It's no secret that I have a thing for Captain Uniform, so you can image how chuffed I was that our Captain wasn't the usual Captain Birds eye!

Have you cruised with Royal Caribbean before? If so I would love to hear
your thoughts...

  1. Sounds like you had a fantastic time, the Captain looks extremely yummy :). Hope to cruise myself one day :) xx
